Anyone have any photos of the old "roller skating rink?"

Pavillion
Looking for some inside photos for a friend. Not so far back as when it was a dance hall, but when it was used as a roller rink. Thanks.

I have distinct memories of watching the skaters, but no pictures. :(
If I find one, I will post it for you, but don't hold your breath. Can't believe no one else has any. Good luck. nj2nh |
Darn. I can close my eyes and see the inside, but that doesn't help you. I'll try to keep it in mind if I come across any of my old photo's. My visits since the 70's have been so rushed that I didn't even notice it being gone.

Here's one...
When it was still a Rollerskating Rink. With the red roof on in this photo. I used to enjoy roller dancing with friends there! A beautiful and fun place that I miss today! http://www.winnipesaukee.com/photopo...hp?photo=12418

You all are right about the wonderful times we had at the roller skating rink (pravilion), but I do not think it would fly nowadays as the generatons have really changed for that type of fun. I can see my grand kids going to a roller skate rink. Ya sure, you have to be kidding me. http://i56.tinypic.com/9s5t6o.gif

I learned to ice skate first before my family decided to move out west to California for 6+ years. Now, 'Doo to the lack of Ice, besides learning how to rollerskate out there, I also learned about the subtle differences between ( asfault, Ice, Cement and Road Rash )! :) Not necessarily, in that order. :) Re: SIKSUKR... Nope... Wrong color, and not enough wheels. :) Terry _____________________________________ |
You mean the white skates are not for guys?:laugh:That's what my mom handed me down when I was just little thing.:D

slanted floor
I seem to remember the floor slanted a bit towards the lake. Only skated there once in all the years in Alton Bay.

A Way Back Laker
Last night at my aunt's 70th birthday party at the Hilltop in Saugus, I met a nice couple from Medford, MA. When I mentioned coming down from Lake Winnipesaukee, Cathy practically lit up. Next question from here was what part of the lake, to which I replied Alton. Wow was she excited! Her first recollection was of roller staking at the pavilion. She recalled the reptile zoo, Jay's and a whole lot of other stuff. I encouraged her to visit us here at Winnipesaukee.com by telling her about our Forum for history as well as the historical photographs and postcards. Hopefully she is at home now looking for a picture of the inside of the rink, which she thought she must have. It's been well over twenty years since she took her husband and her own children to the lake... I bet she and Jack make their way back soon.
