New Restaurant in Belmont?
I've seen some activity in the former Oasis Restaurant near Baron's Appliance on Rt. 3. Has anyone heard what may be going in there?

It is kind of funny. You started a thread last February asking the same question and received the same answer. Here it is almost a year later and the place is still vacant

Someone putting money in
The interior of the restaurant has clearly been reconstructed. The counters at the front are gone and there appears to be a large contiguous dining room. I am guessing that whatever is going in will open in time for the summer.

Pasta Patio
Passed the restaurant today & had a sign up. The name of the restaurant will be The Pasta Patio. Workers appeared to be inside. Appears they will be opening shortly.

Pasta Patio
I have been told it is the same owners of the Lobster Pound in the Weirs. The 2 brothers that own the LP are opening this up.

Waterfront?
Can't wait to see the flyer on this place...Waterfront on Winnisquam!
(Couldn't help myself. Disclaimer: I actually liked the L. P. ad. To me they were close enough to the docks to walk.) Hope to have two good ethnic food restaurants to choose from in that area. |

According to the NH Secretary of State's office, the owner of Weirs Beach Lobster Pound is JHL Restaurant Group, Inc. which lists Richard Ray as the President and sole Director. The NH S.O.S. lists Shaun Broers of Meredith as the owner of Pasta Patio in Belmont. |
That building is just weird. Looks like a fast food joint but with a huge ornate patio area for you to enjoy your view of....Rte 3 traffic.:rolleye2:

Pasta Patio is NOW OPEN
I saw about 10 cars in their parking lot yesterday, plus people eating in their windows. Also couldn't help but see a large-screen TV in the background. Anyone been there yet? :look:

We had high hopes

We sat at the bar which needs a little decor. My wife ordered the butternut squash ravioli and I order the Seafood fra diablo. We were very impressed when the waiter arrived immediately after we placed our order with complimentary bread and a complimentary house salad for two. A bowl with a plate over it was placed in front of each of us. I lifted the plate off my bowl to find some food scraps left in the bowl:( When I looked up I saw a waitress with what looked to be a squerrl's nest for a hair style and I grew concerned about some of those hairs falling into the food. The good news is that her hair appeared to have so much hair spray that it could be used as a tooth pick if need be. All being said I still had high hopes for the fra deablo. I had yet to find a restaurant in the LR that serves a good fra deablo. Nothing has changed. I think that the kitchen mistakenly prepared the fra deablo in the same manner as a scampy. It was prepared with oil, lemon and garlic; very different and not very fresh. The mussels were disgusting. the shrimp seemed to be previously frozen and not thawed properly and the scallops had a three day old texture and taste. My wife's ravioli was barely a notch better. A small portion of what appeared to be big box warehouse quality in a pool of broken sauce/grease. We also had a terrible tasting ice tea and a well poured bottle of Sam Adams. The bill came to just over $40. The bartender told us that the owner hopes to create an Olive Garden type place. I think he's on track because I once visited an Olive Garden and was treated like an alien when I complained about a cock roach that came out of my bread basket. This took place in Florida and the waitress said "What do you expect? It's Florida" I never went back to OG Now it seems I won't frequent a OG wanna-b. I honestly hope that we were an isolated incident. I hope other forum members visit and try the same dishes to convince me. If not; my advice to those who are curios; take 1/3 the money to BJ's and buy stuff to pop in your Microwave. What does it take to get good Italian in the LR? |

Drove by last night and there seemed to be a lot of cars there. I would like to find a good Italian place here-not a fan of Fratello's. Need to try North End one of these days.
Going to give it a month or two before we head there. Looking forward to more reviews from others. Hopefully it turns out to be good. |
Try the Italian Bistro
Give the Italian Bistro on Main street in Meredith a try right across from the post office
|
Second the Italian Bistro aka Karen and Barry's.
|
Second that!
and Mrs. HC thirds it!

Karen and Barry's
There is a whole thread or two or three on Karen and Barry's Italian Bistro on this site.
There are so many great reviews on this place...it's one of our favorites when we're up there. |
I had a conversation with a friend on the street today who said they loved the fra deavlo.

Pasta Patio
We live right near there, but haven't been yet. They had some folks post negative comments on their Facebook profile about their experience, something about a line cook losing her cool and yelling at staff so loud everyone could hear. Plus saying the food was so-so.
The handled it well, didn't remove the comments! Just made the people happy by calling them up. And apologizing on facebook. That impressed me. My family doesn't eat pasta, but we might take a trip over there some night to see. :) |
What a bummer....
Tried it. Will not repeat.
