Propane help needed

The cabin I bought last fall has propane. The tanks say "HOMGAS" on them inside a diamond shaped logo. This company does not turn up in the paper or web phone books (or a google search for that matter), so I assume they were bought by, or otherwise became part of, another gas company some time ago. The former owners never got any gas refills, as they acquired the property in an estate settlement and never really used it - thus they were of no help in identifying the company that owns the bottles and can refill the tanks. One gas company won't touch the equipment of another.

So the question is this: Does anyone know who assumed ownership of the HOMGAS equipment and accounts? Otherwise, I guess I can call of the ones that are in the phone book...

thanks in advance

amerigas?

Hi Tom - I believe that Homegas was acquired by Amerigas by way of Wallace Propane, Columbia Propane, and probably a few others in the consolidation. I have a Homegas labeled installation and when I took the tanks to be refilled they just swapped them anyway. You should be all set if you call Amerigas...

Amerigas...

Amerigas in Laconia is probably your best bet, or at least a good place to start.

When we bought our place a few years ago we inheirited a couple of old gas bottles marked "Littlefield Bottled Gas Company". The former owners had been using 20# bottles for years and these two tanks were up in the woods behind the house. Anyway to make a long story short - after an internet search and many phone calls along the trail of gas company mergers I ended up with Amerigas who were happy to take my old bottles away for me.
