It Isn't Spring 'til the First Peeper Sings!

Looking forward to hearing the sound of the first spring peeper. Until then it just won't be spring in my book. Generally speaking, they usually begin their annual ritual around April 15th, but the view outside my window this morning tells me they may be a little late this year. Oh yes, they tell us today is the first day of spring, but really? This storm has set it back a notch or two I fear. These little creatures are much a part of the changing seasons and although heard loud and clear each night, they are seldom seen. We have contests of various kinds and along with ice-in and ice-out, I think we need one to guess the date when the first peeper's serenade is heard in the Lakes Region :-).

Peepers

They sang their first song of the season last night in southern NH! It was glorious. :D

It's not much longer until they wake up in the Lakes Region.
