Caught this on my trail cam in Laconia at 9:30 P.M. on 6/27/16. It looks like it has a 3 hole snout nose and roundish ears. Is this a wild boar? There are no free roaming dogs in the area. I have a newly built pond to the left with a small waterfall.

A boar would probably have charged you. Also, the ones that I have seen are more squat than that.

I took the liberty of trying to enhance the image with Elements and Corel. Looks like a dog with bear-like features. Someone with better knowledge may know.

It's a dog. It's an Akita.

I think the picture is a little deceiving but in my opinion because of the facial features and narrow placement of the eyes my guess is a black bear...

Well, there is at least one...

Free roaming dog in your area, now.

I think it's an Akita also. My daughter had one. I called it a "little bear". There are all sorts of colorations.

I agree. I would also guess a black bear and the camera's "night vision" is what is making it look lighter in color.

Had bear droppings on the driveway last year, but the droppings at the new pond look different, I'll attach a photo.

If the color showed up darker, then I would definitely agree on a bear.

Taste it and let us know if it has a bitter or sweet flavor.

Surprise on you! There's at least one free roaming pooch in the neighborhood.

Looks like Akita, but they are used to fend off bears.
