Notes:
Overnight low temps appear to bear the responsibility for raising the overall temp average for the month. This is most likely caused by the month's average relative humidity of 80 percent. Humidity and cloud cover prevent nighttime temperatures from falling much.

EF-2 tornadic thunderstorm generated damaging lake swells at this location while crossing the SE end of the lake on SSW to NNE course on the 24th. Peak wind was from the south at 44 mph.

There were 3 days with winds of at least 40 mph.

Wow - the numbers don't do the month justice. It sure seemed cold, yet both day and night temps were above normal. Also, the rain isn't that much above normal, yet it seemed that way.

Check again - the day temps were below normal. It was the night temps that were above normal. Cloud cover and humidity will do that.

The rain does seem low for what we've been through but then I have to remember that the the wet spell of the last 30 days was split evenly between two calendar months (July 15 to August 15.) The first half of July was actually pretty dry. The "fun" started on July 18.

From July 18 to August 13 there were only 7 days without rain. There were 20 days with rain, including 9 consecutive days this month. Very reminiscent of last December and February - the constant snow.

The latter half of July was actually cooler than the first, which is unusual. It is now appearing likely that the latter half of August will average warmer than the beginning of the month, which would also be unusual if it happened.
