I did not know that it passed.
My wife was a key speaker for the opposition, but we both gave up when we witnessed some of the chaos out there on several weekends by people we knew were opposed as well.
After that we gave up caring one way or another.

I hope it is 30. It is too hard staying on plane at 25 for me. I can do it, but my burn rate is higher because of drag.

Yeah, the 25 MPH night time limit was a little unreasonable and common sense prevailed for the that aspect of the speed law.

Here's the text of the statute:

X. (a) No person shall operate a vessel on Lake Winnipesaukee at a speed greater than is reasonable and prudent under the existing conditions and without regard for the actual and potential hazards then existing. In all cases, speed shall be controlled so that the operator will be able to avoid endangering or colliding with any person, vessel, object, or shore.
(b) Where no hazard exists that requires lower speed for compliance with subparagraph (a), the speed of any vessel in excess of the limit specified in this subparagraph shall be prima facie evidence that the speed is not reasonable or prudent and that it is unlawful:
(1) 30 miles per hour during the period from 1/2 hour after sunset to 1/2 hour before sunrise; and
(2) 45 miles per hour at any other time.

My boat gets substantially better fuel mileage at 30 than it does at 25, so I like the current law better than the old one. I am not a speed limit supporter, but I never had a problem with a 30 MPH night time limit because high speeds at night, in areas where police can inconspicuously measure speed, are a bad idea.

The way I figure, if it's dark enough that you can't spot an MP measuring speed from a distance, you should be going slow.
