Is this really true? Hard to believe! I've been parking at the Waterville Valley 'no fee zone' cross country ski trail all winter without an up-to-date parking sticker, and I just read in today's Feb 21 www.cmonitor.com opinion column that the Forest Service is now issuing $75 tickets to parking scoflaws. A legit sticker runs about $24/year or $3/day, and used to be a Forest Ranger would politely place an envelope under the windshield wiper requesting payment for the unpaid three bucks.

Well.....apparently no more....now's it's reported to be a big jump up to $75......ouch! It looks like someone I know will be stopping at the Exit 27-WMNF Hdqtrs tomorrow for a new annual sticker.......yes, officer & thanks very much! Just suppos'n you was to get a $75-dollar ticky, and never pay it off.......then what happens.....six months later or so.....should you be stopped for a driving violation?

How the heck can the Forest Service get away with charging $75....my, my, my, ......that sounds just like a big city Boston type of a price !

And, let's not forget "the New Hampshire Advantage"......what's up......yo?

Shouldn't be advertising all them freebies... "The Horse Will Get Out Of The Barn With Ya!"

Hardly ever get lunch at McD's, however I did here recently and noticed that I was charged a State, Federal and FLL Tax! :)

YIKES! :emb:

I thought the WMNF Rangers were Federal employees? Perhaps Washington is trying to pay its $1T spending spree off a $1 at a time

I don't understand how NH relates to federal fines?

I don't understand how NH relates to federal fines?

...it's called writing out a check for $75 payable to The Forest Service & placing it into the Mail, which is a federal penalty administered separately & equally to each individual motor vehicle owner, whoever that may be.

Locally, the very nearby Town of Plymouth serves out fines of maybe ten-dollars for an unpaid 5-cent parking meter and they have an old-timer with a pith helmet who keeps track, out on the Plymouth streets. Could be, once Plymouth gets wind of the Forest Sevice charging $75, the locals will rethink their fine structure. Whatcha-think?:rolleye1:
