Public Hearing for HB 1466: 2/9/2010 3:00 PM Legislative Office Building Room 305, Concord.

Thank you for the post. There has been some real lively discussion here regarding this. Depending on work I hope to make it there. I hope to see many of the vocal members who posted are in attendance as well. You can't sit behind and hope someone else goes. Sometimes you have to put yourself out there even if it means some exposure.

I hope people can make it as there is no "do-over". I am traveling for work this week so I'm out of the game.

Unfortunately the working stiff often gets left out of legislative public hearings because they occur during the workingday. I've spoken at a number of hearings at the State house in Maine. I will send a follow-up to the committee via email.

I don't know about the NH legislative public hearings but in Maine, the legislators come and go during their committee meetings while people are talking. It's actually disrespectful to "the people" who spend the time preparing and taking time off from work to speak up about issues that are important too them.

Our two party system and lobbyists have trashed this country.

Anyone attend? I had a funeral out of state, I couldn't make it back. Wondering how it went.

I found the following on the NH Legislative webpage re: the Braun Bay Rafting bill.

02/11/2010 H Committee Report: Inexpedient to Legislate for Mar 3 CC (Vote 17-1) (http://www.gencourt.state.nh.us/bill_status/bill_status.aspx?lsr=2182&sy=2010&sortoption=&txtsessionyear=2010&txtbillnumber=hb1466)

It is scheduled for the floor on March 3.

Sorry to come into this without any backround, but are they trying to make all of Braun Bay No Rafting? I know there is an area at the end of the bay already so designated. I posted last year about the loss of rafting areas on the lake when we lost East Cove. I hope this trend doesn't continue.

HB 1466, relative to rafting of boats in Braun Bay. INEXPEDIENT TO LEGISLATE.
Rep. Jim U McClammer for Resources, Recreation and Development: This bill as presented has fundamental flaws. The department of safety’s marine patrol indicates that regulations exist to address the problems it raises. Lack of resources to enforce them plays a significant part. The solution to this problem may lie with the local municipal authority working with the department of safety’s marine patrol to enforce existing state regulations. Vote 17-1.

Great news! I sense the same will happen for a couple of upcoming HB's. :)

That wreaks of common sense, and maybe even a little bit of research. That's not playing fair is it? :rolleye2:

Wow that is great news. It is nice to see the process take place void of emotion and based on facts. Thanks for the update.

Sorry for the confusion or silly question... What is the new legislation here??? Is it to repeal the current "no rafting" zone or was there a new bill introduced to do something else in Braun Bay??? What is the status of Braun Bay now after yesterday's (3/3/10) hearing/vote???

On the top right of that page you can click "bill text" for the specifics. There's is another lengthy thread about this if you want to see the banter.
