How to capture images from the web came up in the Winter '09-'10 is underway thread (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/showthread.php?p=109307#post109307) after I posted images of the upcoming forecast.

You forgot one.

http://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?site=gyx&FcstType=text&zmx=1&zmy=1&site=GYX&map.x=123&map.y=200

p.s. I have no idea how to do the snapshot thing on the web so you will have to make do with the link.

HoverSnap (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/hoversnap.html). It's a great tool. :D

Windows Vista Home Premium or higher comes with a Snipping Tool (http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows-vista/Use-Snipping-Tool-to-capture-screen-shots)that allows you to do the same thing as HoverSnap. However it does not have the ftp upload feature (that I know of anyway).

After you capture a snip, it's automatically copied to the mark-up window, where you can annotate, save, or share the snip.

I have Windows03.

I can hold down the 'Alt' key and hit the PrtScn button just to the right of the F12 button. Paste in an application, then save as an image, which can then be attached to a post.

Do you mean Windows 3.0? If you are using 3.0, then what do you have for a computer? I don’t think that there are to many people using that OS today.
The system requirements for Windows 3.0 when it came out in 1990 was a 8086/8088 processor or better, 640K conventional memory, though 1 MB of extended memory was recommended, Hard disk with 6-7MB of free space, and CGA/EGA/VGA/Hercules/8514/A graphics and an appropriate and compatible monitor.

Try Jing. It's an awesome tool to capture still pics and video of your screen. The basic version is free.

I down loaded and installed the program and it is really neat, I mean "REALLY NEAT".
Below is a short video I took while on MSN Money to see how it works:

Once you have captured the area that you want, click on the copy tab as shown below. Then go to the thread that you are replying to and paste it in the reply box.
To paste it, click your right mouse button and then click paste. This will put it inside the reply box.

I hope this helps. Sometimes I have a hard time explaining things so if you need more instructions, let me know.

SIKSUKR, The instructions that I gave you will not work. You need to save what you captured and then upload it to Screencast.com.
To do that you need to setup an account with them and they will show you how to upload the file. They will give you an image code to paste into your post.
I made a file on my hard drive called "JING" and save all the captured images to it.

Maybe hazelnut can walk you thru it sometime.

Embedding a video is a bit different and it requires you to obtain the embed code from the video you created. You should be able to log into www.screencast.com and see any videos you send to that site. That site will provide you with an embed code to paste directly into the page you are trying to have the video in. I will do a video demo for you and see if it works.

First of all, after you capture a video with "JING" you will notice some options at the bottom left. One of the icons looks like three little arrows curving in three directions. If you hover the mouse over that icon it says: "Send to Screencast" or something like that. Then log into screencast.com and you should see your video. What follows in my next post will be me navigating to that site and retrieving the embed code then pasting it to this site. I hope!

This is the video I posted in the demo. The next post has the video of how I did it.

Appreciate the video HN but its so big I'm missing what's happening trying to find the action.Up,down, left right.

Instead of saving the video like you would an image, you need to send it to screencast.com

This is done by clicking on the icon that has three curving arrows pointing upwards which is to the left of the save icon.

When you click on the three arrow icon, you will notice that it will say “uploading your file” and the round yellow ball at the top of your screen will have arrows going counter clockwise and will stay that way until it is completely uploaded. Once the rotating arrows stop, then the file is in screencast. A video will take more time than an image to upload.

Now you need to go to screencast.com and log on to find the video that you just sent.

After logging on, go to “My Library” and you will find it beside the Jing folder or in the Jing folder. You might have to click on the “Jing” folder to find the video.

Once you fine the video, click on it and look at the “Details” which is at the bottom of your video. Then click on the share tab and you will find “Embed on your page”. Copy that code and then paste it into the reply box of the post that you are replying to. Or you can copy the URL and then put that in as an attachement.

It looks like a lot of things that you have to do, but just like anything else, "practice makes perfect" (or something like that) :)
