Corner Deli in Gilford closes..

This past weekend was their last. Goes up for auction this week.

Right by Gunstock, on Route 11A.

I am sorry to see that happened. I noticed the sign last night for the auction. :(

Now that's a bummer -- I thought they had a great thing going in a good location. Then again, when I saw that the original Corner Deli was closed downtown it made me wonder how the Gunstock location was still running.

The "Original" Corner Deli was on Gilford Ave in Laconia. Opened by a couple, they were able to open Shooters Tavern (Route 3, Belmont) and the second Corner Deli just before Gunstock over several successful years.

Now, cut to their subsequent divorce. He got "Shooters"; she got the Gilford Corner Deli (near Gunstock), and the original location on Gilford Ave was closed, much to their dismay. (It was where it all started, after all.)

So, yes, today I noticed that the Corner Deli by Gunstock is also now closed.

HOWEVER - the silver lining is that the former owner (the wife) is now working as a cook at the original location, which has re-opened as a completely renovated restaurant under new ownership as "The Pizza Station", and it features some of her classic food. I'm not aware if she has any stake in the business, but it was good to see her there - "where it all started".

TONIGHT ONLY!

The owner is having a closing party, with an AYCE Buffet for $5 per person. It's BYOB, and she's hoping for a crowd! It's her celebration of the finalization of the divorce, so she wants to celebrate!
