I could be wrong, FLL, but the Paradise is primarily a rock club. I think they might mean "big rock bands" as opposed to "Swing and sway with Sammie Kay, or Tommy Dorsey stuff, which is what you are thinking. I've heard they have some of the best rock bands in the area.

They are talking Big Band Era and 15% off for seniors. Stopped in for an "adult beverage" last Sunday and at 50 we were the youngest in the place except for Jamie the cute little bartender ;) Something new their trying out this summer, they had a good crowd going on too.

Was BIG on this when it was open. Maybe Paradise tries to cash in on this. Not a bad thing.

It will be spectacular if Paradise moves to the Irwn's site and the arcade move inland.

As a baby boomer, I grew up with rock and roll and always went "ewww, yech!" to the jazz, swing and big band music my parents grew up with.

Funny thing, about eight years ago I happened to find a station that plays a wide variety of this music, and my aversion flipped to a passion.

Now I listen to it all the time, and have learned to appreciate it.

Looks like Patrick's Pub & Eatery (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=2298&day=2009-9-13) is getting in on the "Big Band" action this coming Sunday.

The event at The Paradise (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/calendar.php?do=getinfo&e=2297&day=2009-9-13) is earlier, so maybe you can do both! :D

I agree with BroadHopper, the arcade should move inland and Irwin's Winnipesaukee Gardens (http://www.winnipesaukee.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1759&highlight=irwins+winnipesaukee+gardens) should return. :coolsm:
