The Alton Village store, which used to sell ethanol-free gas, is now selling gas with 10% ethanol. They were very handy for filling up the boat and I know lots of us with slips in Alton Bay went there regularly. Apparently then can no longer sell the ethanol-free stuff due to government regulations. Seems like a perfect example of the late, great Ronald Reagan's nine scariest words in the English language: "I'm from the government and I'm here to help."

Yep, Ropetow, I agree. This is all very aggravating. Here are just a few of the ways the Government has helped us recently:

Ethanol mandates: higher food cost, higher fuel cost, damaged engines, damaged fuel tanks, damaged fuel lines, likely more discarded gas each spring

MTBE mandates (recently removed): long term polution of drinking water sources

Oil drilling bans: higher fuel costs, dependency on nations that hate us, requires shipping oil across the globe in lowest-bidder-built ships

Lack of proper bank regulation (by the way, there are six differnet bank regulation agencies in the Federal Gov't): resulting in world economic meltdown, retirement plans out the window, people losing homes, people losing jobs

I could go on, but I've got to stop now so I can open my window and yell: "I'm mad as hell and I'm not going to take this any more!"

Out with all the incumbents in Congress!

No ethanol near a marina? This is also a good way for the marinas to sell more boats. ie. "new" boats..Hint!:rolleye1:

I don't think so. It used to be possible for marinas, etc., to get ethanol-free gas out of Portland, ME, but I was told at the end of last season that this would no longer be possible.

I topped off my tanks before putting the boat away, and I'm glad I did (even with the drop in gas prices!)

.... I topped off my tanks before putting the boat away... I hope you put some stabilizer in the tank too.

I don't think you realy have a problem with ethanol gas. I have been buying my gas for the boat for the most part in Manchester area with ethonal for quite some time. I have had very little problem with it except when trying to start my 1979 2 stroke 115 HP evinrude first time in the season. last year I had 3/4 tank of gas left from the season prior. It would not start the motor so I used the new tank. I shook the ole tank once it was running and switched it back. like Maxwell house, good to the last drop. (no stabilizer either) But this year, for some reason there was no gas left. I got them home and will buy enroute again. Just have to remember that I brought the battery home as well.
