We will be staying at Weirs Beach for 7 nights in August, and I am looking for some ideas of things we can do. We like outdoor types of things, tourist attractions, and we are open to anything. This is what we did last year while we were there: M/S Mount Washington, train ride at Weirs, Ruggles Mine, zip lines in Lincoln, went to Funspot, and our favorite thing, went to the beach area.
I was thinking about going to Gunstock Mountain, maybe trying the zip rider at Wildcat Mountain, and Castle in the Clouds. Any other ideas?
One last question. When you are at Weirs Beach around the boardwalk area, you can see a big house or something up on a mountain. What is that?
Thanks!

After the WOW trail, Lakes Winnisquam-Ossipee-Winnipesaukee trail gets finished, the Weirs Boardwalk will be on the trail. Probably, the WOW trail will attract bicyclers, walkers, roller skaters.

If you rode the Mount and didn't get off, try that. What I mean is take an early boat and go to Wolfeboro for the day or Alton. Wolfeboro has enough to do for the day and then you can catch the Mount back to the Weirs.
Kelerhaus make your own sundays are always good. Town Docks in Meredith has entertainment on some nights. Meredith is a great trip, take the Doris E over.
No matter what wherever you go there are always those little brochure racks that have all the area attractions in them. Close your eyes and pick one out of the rack.
Have fun.

If you like climbing, Mt. Major in Alton is a rather easy climb and offers some great views from the top. It is free and easy to get to since it is right off Rt. 11
Red Hill just north of the lake is also a geat climb.
In Linclon, the Basin and the Flume are great places to go on a hot August day.
Further north, the Cog Railway is also worth the trip. The early train up and a walk down with the right equipment is a full day that you will remember forever. The Mount Washigton Observatory on top is also a great place to visit.
Enjoy!

....I was thinking about going to Gunstock Mountain....
Thanks!
That would be a great idea! GUNSTOCK (http://summer.gunstock.com/news/detail.php?tid=260) is hosting the Laconia Nationals, Rod, Custom and Muscle car show complete with Monster Truck Rides! You can catch a ride to the top of the mountain on the chairlift for only 5 bucks.
If you're the craft fair type....they'll be doing their thing in Meredith.
... and not screwing up the traffic in Alton Bay.:D
All week-end, kids under 12 ride the Mt. Washington for FREE!
....and the weather is going to be magnificent

You can get a scenic flight out of Laconia Municipal Airport. Up to 3 passengers at a time, 25 minutes of flying over the lake. Go to www.emersonaviation.com. Usually you can book a flight the same day you call, if you call early.

Why not rent a boat or some jet skis and spend the day out on the water?

Thank you all for the great ideas! I don't know if I can wait until August to go. I might have to go for a long weekend before then!

Also could be the enormous "club house" for the private Grouse Point Club (condominiums).

Santa's Village in Jefferson was actually fun, with some decent rides (log flume, roller coaster, ferris wheel).
Of course, the cog railway ride to the top of Mt. Washington is a Must Do.
Ellacoya has a great beach, and is perfect for picnics.

Take a stroll on the boardwalk and enjoy the views, check out the shops, watch the loons swim on a quiet day, or take in the weekly fireworks. Some friends of ours just opened a "stuff your own animal" store at the end of the pier (great take home gift for the little ones), the recently redone general store has seating outside and homemade food inside, or enjoy a pizza at Anthonys at the end of the pier.
Lots to do outside and inside, hope you enjoy your vaca KellyG!
