On Monday's shakedown cruise for the M/S Mount Washington, it occurred to me that I was enjoying a great day of being on the lake, and I didn't have to worry about gassing up the boat. I didn't have to worry about trying to navigate among the rude boaters whose numbers have been on the rise in the last few years. Higher gas prices and high-volume traffic on the water have combined to keep me on land a lot in the last 3 years, but on Monday it suddenly hit me, "How I've missed being on the water!"
Then I got an idea: Avoid high gas prices and rude crowds by using the MOUNT for getting out on the water this summer. I mean, it's not exactly the same as boating, but for the many of us who are feeling "forced ashore" it's a good way to get out on the lake, worry-free.
So I looked into it, and discovered that you can get a SEASON'S PASS... not just for the MOUNT but for the Sophie C. and the Doris E. for day cruises, and it's $79.
Before pricey gas and when boaters were still mostly friendly we used to love taking guests around the lake and going out to eat somewhere. The ship docks in all those places, or we could just eat on board. This might end up being my new way to spend time on the water!
