Nice article in today's Citizen about a Cow Island resident and his trusty hovercraft. A couple of nice pictures accompany the story.

Enjoy (http://www.citizen.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080422/GJNEWS02/66980996/-1/CITIZEN) the story! :)

Great story. George handles our propane service on the island. I have spoken with him many times but never met him in person. I looked at a similar craft when I was shopping for my airboat. I'd stil like to try one some time. The ride is a bit smoother, but the weight capacity is greatly diminished.

Being stuck on the island for a month with a freezer full of food? I can think of worse fates :D

That's not the only hovercraft on Cow. Though this one is not used as much. It does lift a half ton of passengers/cargo though and is actually for sale.

Hmmm, I like it. Any details?

Universal Hovercraft UH-17 design; built in 2003; all-aluminum, tig welded frame; solid design; very few hours. Trailer included for $12,500. Excellent condition, including skirt. Serious inquiries can PM me.

George handles our stuff as well. We actually got into the hovercraft craze together and have learned a lot from it. We started with a Scat and have had a couple since then. The best one we have is an aerocruiser that has side by side seating with a joy stick in the center

Cowisl, do you use yours at the island?

we use it occasionally. I personally think its more fun to use during the winter. There is nothing like pulling up to the wolfeboro docks by Hovercraft!

I agree, we only use it during the transition times when ice is not safe and water not passable. It sure takes the worry out of ice thickness!:)
