June Rainbow

Today brought periods of sun intermingled with bands of rain, thunder and lightning. Shortly before 6:00 PM, storm clouds appeared over Wolfeboro while the sun was still out here in West Alton. The Wolfeboro rain and Alton sun produced this beautiful rainbow over Barndoor Island.

I looked and looked, knowing there had to be rainbows today, the conditions were perfect a few times during the day! Thanks so much for sharing that breathtaking rainbow!

Like Rattlesnake Gal in Hollis, we had a double rainbow here in Dover at the same time you were snapping your shot at the Lake.

Some places -- Hawaii and South Florida come to mind.

We saw the double rainbow over Wolfeboro way, but attributed that to the pots of gold due them on the latest property tax assessments. :confused:

I was under the rainbow. After a very violent few minute with lighting, high winds and rain, we had beautiful sun. No pot of gold.

The camera is an Olympus C4040Zoom digital, 4.1 megapixels. The shutter speed was 1/400 sec., aperture was F5.0, ISO setting was 100, focal length 103mm. The camera was set to "Auto" for this shot, so all I had to do was point and shoot. This particular camera has been discontinued, but most all digital cameras being sold today can take excellent photos.

We came out of Silo's in Merrimack, NH last evening, only to see a breathtaking rainbow arched high in the sky. But I am still looking for that Pot of Gold. Anyone find it???? :rolleye2:

The clarity on those shots is amazing. You can actually see where the rainbow ends on the second photo.

I was down in Massachusetts at the time of the rainbow, but we still got one later on! What a coincidence!
