I thought that I would give everyone a heads up that the NASCAR race is this weekend...Rt. 106 will be difficult...make your travel plans accordingly.

Ditto for Route 140 - we've seen a ton more traffic and huge RV's ripping through our little 30MPH zone - a school zone nonetheless. (And yes, I've asked for police to set up patrol for speeders and was practically laughed at.) Being out on foot yesterday and this morning is sorta like Russian Roulette.

Also remember that the Reach the Beach Relay is this weekend as well. Starts today at Cannon Mt and ends Saturday at Hampton Beach. Runners will be passing threw Center Harbor, Meredith and Laconia at all hours of the day and night.

Ahhh but think of the fun. Flourecent lime green and orange shirts. The #24 bumper sticker on every other car. And don't forget about the unshaven, beer bellied (wearing a shirt 2 sizes too small) 4 toothed.......and then there's the guys.

....and don't forget that there'll be lots of traffic heading up to Wolfeboro for the RACE BOAT REGATTA (http://www.nhbm.org/NHRaceBoatRegatta.html). This event happens only every two or three years and I can't make it to the lake this week-end:(
Here's a photo from the VINTAGE REGATTA (http://www.vintageraceboatshop.com/NHVintageRegatta2007.htm) web page.

Here's the WEBSITE (http://www.rtbrelay.com/index.shtml) for Reach the Beach Relay. From Laconia the runners go through Gilmanton and along Rt. 28 in Barnstead.

Allright I can't resist.Sorry McDude.150 foot safe pasage rule?Yup,it was safer back in the "ole"days.
As far as the Nascar traffic on Sunday,I was at the track by 10:00 am coming from the south on 106.It was the worst I had seen. There was however,an accident about a mile north of 393 which I think had a lot to do with that.I waited 2 hours to leave the track and it still took me 1hour and 45 minutes to get to Manchester.I ended up taking Rt 3 south from Concord. Not sure why it seemed a lot worse than in years past though.

Left for the track earlier and was parked before 8 am..(I came up from home in Mass).. there was almost no delays in getting to the lot except I almost missed an exit (got thinking about the lake and wanted to continue northward I think). I didn't wait as long to leave the track probably about 45 mins (long enough to get to my car and have a snack) and went north on 106to the lake. Going north although not with any great speed, once out onto 106, the traffic moves along at a good pace. I was at the lake by about 7:30 (Moultonborugh). Unfortunatly I know not everyone has the luxary of being able to both have a camp north of the track, and have monday after the race off.... but it has been a convience the last two years when I have gone to the fall Race.

We went up to the lake for a couple hours Sunday afternoon. I took a chance driving up Rt 106 guessing the traffic would be light by that point. We drove past the track about 2:10 - just as the flyover took place - perfect timing! We had to slow down a bit but overall it only took an extra couple of minutes so it worked out well.
Coming home we would have been by the track just about as the race ended so headed over to Tilton, came down 93, and got off in north Concord.

You had to have known you were going to get a rise out of someone on a statement like that. :fire:
I attend at least 7-10 races each season. I am college educated. Attractive and the correct weight for my height. I also have all my perfectly straight teeth. Thank you very much! :D
Please do not base your statement on what you see when you look in the mirror at your local Walmart.

Joanna16...I think the comment was made in "good humor". Big Nascar fan myself, but love the jokes that go along with it. Often funny because they ARE true.
By the way...love the thread you started about "end of year"... I plan on adding to it today. Big fan of Guiseppes....

Didn't mean to offend. I am actually happy you wrote because I never met a Nascar fan that could count up to 7....never mind 10. I guess that college education paid off:laugh:

NHIS race, July 13th 1997.
Jeff Burton started the race in 15th place and won!
Being an avid Nascar fan since back in the 50s, I had my own seating section at NHIS. :)
Love,
T.
