Hello All

In the next year or so my lake home will need a new roof. I currently have Asphalt or maybe fiberglass shingles which I intend to have stripped off. The shingles were made during a period that the shingle industry produced millions of defective shingles and I have those. They are curling and breaking before their time.

My question are,

Who has experience with tin roofing that I often see in the lakes region?
Is it more or less costly than conventional shingles?
How long do tin roofs generally last?
Who are the good contactors in the area?
Are they noisy in rain/ hail storms.

What other things should I be looking for with this roofing material?

Thanks in advance for all the great advice I'm sure I will get.

Charlie

My grandfather roofed an attached shed with tin that was right next to his bedrom window. He specifically did that so that he could hear the rain hit it. However, he was born in 1892 and he may have been reminiscing about sounds of his chidhood. It did have a distinctive sound though. The roof, to my knowledge was installed in 1960 and is still there. :)
