Has anybody here been to the new Mexican restaurant called El Centenario that just opened up where Wolfe Den used to be in Wolfeboro?

I've been. It's nice. I actually did not eat any food, though, but the margaritas were perfect and the atmosphere was authentic. It's missing a deck or outside-type area for summertime eating and cocktailing, though. It was a Thursday evening and it had a constant crowd. There were folks of all ages. Quaint. The owner/bartender was very nice, too.

We will give it a try. What happen to the Wolfeden? I thought they were doing ok for the winter months when the Wolfetrap was closed. Who owns the mexican restaurant?

Not certain relative to the Wolfe Den, but the Mexican restaurant is owned by some folks who moved to the country from Mexico and opened the restaurant.

They're trying to get a permit to put tables outside in front of the place, but things like that are slow to happen in Wolfeboro.

Located just around the corner from the Sunoco gas station. Dinner this evening was good. You can make a meal with several appetizers...no need for an entre! Guacamole made fresh at your table .... ingredients to your taste....we like lotsa cilantro. The dinners were tasty...Mrs Hermit Cover had chicken fajitas....very tender well-marinated grilled chicken....I had a chicken burrito...served with a bit of refried beans and rice.....it was OK. This is a newly-opened restaurant...they are really trying and with practice will probably get it right. We'll go back! It's hard to compare this place to Las Pinatas in the train station in Laconia......yet!

Six of us ate at the El Centenario last night. We were all very pleased with the entire experience. The excellent food, drink and service made for a very pleasent evening.
The menu is very extensive and had a good variety to choose from.
We plan to go back soon.:liplick:
Great food and great service.

We ate there last fall and tried to go again a few weeks ago, but the bad weather kept us home and I was disappointed. I had the best mole ever, and the selection of different tequillas (sp?) is fantastic. The bartender even came over to our table to help us select which brand we wanted in our margaritas. If you go, I suggest making a reservation; the place is small and fills up quickly. With several other local places going out of business in Wolfeboro this winter, I hope this place will be able to make it 'cause it's a gem!
