Dredging Service?

I need to get the area next to my dock dug out. When the water level drops my boat hits the bottom when it gets rough. Does anyone know of a dredging service? I know I have to get a permit - does anyone have any experience with this? Is it difficult, yada, yada?

With a permit in hand any of them will do it, the keys to it are price and the ability to handle the permitting properly/efficiently. Some are better at handling the permitting process than others, so if you need this as part of the project I would look at Watermark or hire an outside contractor for the permitting process.

With a permit in hand you can shop it more for price, you will most likely find a huge spread in pricing depending on the time of the year and how busy the contractors are. Our beach quotes had a $15k spread in price for the same job.

Depending on how much you need dug out some of the smaller guys might do it without a permit, obviously this is illegal but if they can do it quick and get out some may do it. Is it worth the risk? Only you can decide that. Personally all my stuff is permitted and I would not mess with it.

Another thought, if your water depth is that low have you checked to see if you can extend your dock? This would be easy to figure out and easier to get through DES than dredging. A standard boat slip is defined as 25' of dock length measured from the point that the water depth is 3' (measured at full lake). You can get 30' of permanent dock or 40' in a liftout as a standard without going for extra length according to the rules.
