Has anyone bought a new boat for the lake? What kind etc. The story around the marinas is that next years models will have major increases because of the oil prices related to fiberglass.
I am happy with my NH boat and the family loves it.
I thought I could save money in the long run by switching out my Florida boat for a smaller 4 stoke Grady White. After checking out 3 local marina, test driving several, and looking at the recent used markets, I found that I could drive my current boat until it dies (at least 4 years) and still be ahead. I did not find any boat that rides as well as my current one and if I were to buy a new model I would want the same model (G_W Gulfstream). To re-power the boat to 4 stroke would cost $30,000. That is a lot of gas at $4.00. The test drive of the smaller boat proved no good (ride and free board) for my typical use in Florida.
