With the rain this past week, and the rain scheduled to move in on Saturday, we regret to announce the cancellation of the walk for January. Babes on Sleds, please appease the snow gods, and get some good conditions in for the rest of the walks :rolleye1: !

On Sunday, February 12th, Alton Parks & Recreation department will be sponsoring a Full Moon Snowshoe Walk at 7:00 PM at Trask Swamp, located on Fort Point Road, Alton Bay. While the long range forecast is not looking great, once we get by this Fri and Sat, there is no rain (hate that word this time of year) in the forecast...just not sure enough snow will fall to make the snow shoeing decent. Keep a good thought :) .
For adults of all ages, weather and snow conditions permitting. Good cardio, scenic walk, fresh air and fun. Please call Alton Parks and Rec to register 603-875-0109 so we will know who will be coming...Don't want to leave anyone behind at the trail head.

Hi McDude
a. Yes there may be, but we are going to still keep it cancelled. Probably won't be very moonlitty, that is too say it will be cloudy, and it could still be snowing, and people may have already made other plans, and it could be tough driving, with the parking area not plowed, and....well it is still cancelled.:(
b. Yep, and the good news is she did give me a nice warm blanket...the bad news is she put it on the wicker couch our on the porch on the side of the garage!

Want to work off the frustrations of the voting booth???? Feel the need to get some fresh air and exercise? Well, here you go:
Looking for something different to do? Join us as we lead you on a guided tour of Trask Swamp in Alton, which is a wonderful loop walk for approximately 40 minutes depending on pace. We will park at the base and walk in with snow shoes using the moon to light the way, we also use head lamps and it is an amazing site to see us trekking through the snow. Weather permiting, we will meet at 7:00pm at Trask Swamp on Fort Point Road, off of Chestnut Cove Road. The program is free, bring snowshoes, a water bottle and a headlamp and dress in layers. It’s a great cardio workout if you pick up the pace or a nice stroll through a great recreational area. Get out and meet new people and enjoy the fresh air and moonbeams. All abilities and ages are welcome. A parent must accompany children under 16. If you are planning to join us please call to register by March 10. Phone 603-875-0109
Ps: I had thoughts about just a walk if there isn't any snow, but it looks like temps will get into the 40's towards the end of this coming week along with some showers, so even a walk may be out of the question because of soft ground / mud! We'll keep you advised.

GRRRRRRRRRR:rolleye1: Mother Nature sure didn't cooperate this winter, did she? Well, at least we can look forward to the snowshoe walks, and the Winter Festival, next year. Hopefully we'll have a real winter then!
