It appears that the Alton Bay Lakeview Market is under contract. :) Now if the Pavilion would just sell!

Century 21 Lakes Region Realty has a great feature on their web site. Tour Bot, - which shows several different photos of the properties. Nice feature. :coolsm: It is fun poking around listings. Check it out!

Now if the Pavilion would just sell!

The Alton Bay Pavilion has been sold several times in the past, and it is now for sale again. I think the real questions are, 1) what is it good for, and 2) how can a potential buyer make it a financially worthwhile investment?

In past decades the Pavilion was a roller skating rink and a dance hall, but today I wonder what sort of enterprise would be able to succeed there. It has a "state of the art" sound system inside, but I really wonder if such a dance hall can make it these days. Parking is one big problem there, and another is the apparent lack of the public's interest in a dance hall. The current owner had high hopes of attracting enough dance business to make it financially successful, but the fact that the facility is again for sale makes me doubt that a dance hall is financially realistic these days.

How about some ideas from the other Forum participants as to what activity might make the Alton Bay Pavilion a financially feasible investment?

Hey Don:
I'm thinking it might be a great location for the New Hampshire Boat Museum? They recently moved from the Weirs to the old Allen A Resort Dance Hall in Wolfeboro but I heard that it was temporary. (Not sure on that one....can anyone confirm?) Wouldn't it be a great waterfront location for classic boats right on the BIG lake?

click for New Hampshire Boat Museum (http://www.nhacbm.org/index.html)

here's the link to the real estate listing for the pavilion (http://www.curryrealtorsnh.com/property/listings/Commercial/NH/Alton/61515)
To me it will always be the BUSY CORNER STORE.

That's a very interesting suggestion, McD. I wonder if anyone associated with the Boat Museum reads the Forum threads here!
