What is the best way to view this site?

This site is optimized to be viewed at 800 X 600 resolution in 16 million colors using Netscape.

Using other browsers including WebTV and AOL may cause unpredictable and undesirable results.

Please note that the JPeg images found here may appear grainy when viewed if your video display is set for 256 colors. If you change your display to 64,000 colors or higher you will be amazed at the difference it makes when browsing the Web. If you're running with 256 colors and don't want to change the display, I recommend downloading the images and viewing them with an image viewer like the ones available for download here.

Facts & Figures

The site now receives more than 10-20 thousand distinct visitors per week from around the world and is growing in popularity. It has been featured in articles in local newspapers and television stations.

Although originally hand coded in HTML the site is now edited and maintained with Microsoft FrontPage 2000.

When the site was first created in 1995 photographs were taken with a Canon AE-1 Program camera and print film. The negatives were then scanned onto a Photo CD.

A few years later a Epson PhotoPC 500 digital camera was used to speed up the process and cut the expense of creating the digital images needed. In early 2000 a Nikon CoolPix 950 was purchased to provide higher quality digital images.

The Forum, PhotoPost, Lake Links, Classifieds, Postcard Center, Poll, Quiz, Water Temp., Ad Banner display, security, and other administrative tools are all made possible by CGI and PHP scripts.

This site resides on a CI Host UNIX server running the Apache Web Server with Microsoft FrontPage 2000 extensions installed.
