Ceramic Dish Ceramic Dish
Nana placed this simple ceramic candy dish on the table in the living room at Lucknow. Visiting grandchildren always found it filled with chocolate candy. She gave the dish to my parents when she left Lucknow, and they gave it to me. While I always loved the dish and the welcoming forethought it represented, not until I read my father's wartime letters to his mother when he was stationed in Italy and Germany did I realize its deeper significance.
